I have recently been thinking about the future of PvPKillz, and honestly, it's history is nothing short of great and spectacular. PvPKillz had its ups and downs, and many of you have stayed with us for more than a year, which I personally thank you greatly for. I was planning to keep the server up for another year, but due to recent events (Me turning Gr 12, EULA issues, Microsoft Purchase, Copyright notices on Craftbukkit and similar services) I moved up the shutdown to be today.
PvPKillz started with just everyday Counter Strike: Source servers, and honestly it was not my intent to make any money, it was just for the fun of it. I played and had fun, and in return people also played and had fun on the servers. It was all great until I shutdown the servers since I could not host the servers at home. I honestly did not know what to do then, and it was quite easy for me to shutdown PvPKillz because not many people knew about it. However, I chose not to... (Easy school, Lots of extra time... So why not!) I got suggestions for Hunger-Games by the good ol' Indian12 and Gmodrox and it worked out nicely (Explains why I like to take suggestions from people, you never really know if your idea will be a big hit or not). I personally got quite jealous of those who got 50+ players, meanwhile the more work I do to PvPKillz, the less people go on. I did mess up a lot in PvPKillz, and I apologize for all that had happened.
PvPKillz was just a Summer project, but with some help from friends, I was able to keep it up for longer. I tried and spent a lot of money on just advertising and failed. PvPKillz was also fun to manage, but a pain to have because of all the attention it some times grabs from friends (they want to become admins, mods and sort of stuff, and you know for sure they won't be good, but just to be the good person, you give it to them).
Money making was great, I personally did use some of the money as a 'reward' for myself for doing such successful stuff, and well, I won't lie to you, the money was used but I kept a lot still in reserves which I do plan to use for bigger-scale projects. I don't want to sound 'selfish' but I do try to cut corners when I can with payments, cause you never know if what you will be paying for will be worthy.
PvPKillz taught me a lot, and it may have also taught you a lot too, and I thank you for all that you have contributed to the community, from suggestions to just random posts on the forums to make people laugh.
I will be quitting Minecraft in general, not just shutting down PvPKillz... Minecraft is just too bland for me, and I think I can use my knowledge for bigger projects and work a little for my future. Minecraft was great to get me where I am today, but I am going to have to leave it to advance in life. I've spent a lot of time on PvPKillz and it is one of my best works in my life, and I will for sure remember it forever. I've found my self to life CS:GO more than Minecraft, and personally I've found a great way to tell if you like something enough, is if you would sacrifice playing the best and most fun game just to work on that project/job. Once this happens, you will know you found your haven. Same thing happened with Minecraft and Coding, I like coding more than Minecraft.
I may open a small new community for Counter Strike: Global Offensive, but it most likely will not be linked to PvPKillz in any way, and will be just made for weekly tourney's with Steam money or Skin rewards.
If you are interested in joining, the link to group on Steam:
Anyways, since this is getting to become a long post, I would like to announce the official closure of PvPKillz.
The forums will remain open for the next few years or atleast when there is absolutely no activity. As for PvP.Kz, it will also remain, but it may be used for different projects, I personally don't know...
As for the server files... The worlds will be open for download, but nothing else will be... (Plugins & MySQL info will not be included.)
My plugins will be also released as open source, and you may do anything with them if you wish, most of them are made to be as dynamic as possible, so you can check that:
If you want to keep up with me, I might start posting on my own website:
Otherwise, I'd like to thank you for reading this and for your involvement in PvPKillz.
